Overview

L’hôtel Negresco est un luxueux hôtel cinq étoiles situé sur la Promenade des Anglais à Nice, sur la célèbre Côte d’Azur.

 

L’hôtel tient son nom de son fondateur, Henri Negresco. Jeune garçon, il a travaillé dans l’hôtel de son père jusqu’à l’âge de 13 ans lorsqu’il a décidé de voyager et de chercher fortune. Il réussit à se faire une réputation à Paris en tant que “maître d’hôtel” et c’est alors qu’il décide finalement de tenter sa chance sur la Côte d’Azur. Il est d’abord “maître d’hôtel” à l’Hôtel Du Helder puis directeur du restaurant du Casino Municipal de Nice, un hôtel qui devient la coqueluche des rois, princes et riches visiteurs de la Côte d’Azur.

 

Le Negresco est tombé amoureux de la Côte d’Azur et il a commencé à rêver de construire un palace sur la Promenade des Anglais à Nice, le bâtiment que nous connaissons aujourd’hui comme l’Hôtel Negresco. Il convient de mentionner qu’aux côtés d’Henri Negresco, d’autres artistes ont également contribué à la construction de cet hôtel, notamment le riche industriel Alexandre Darracq, l’architecte néerlandais Edouard Niermans et, bien sûr, le célèbre ingénieur Gustave Eiffel qui était chargé de la construction du toit.

 

Il s’agit de l’un des rares survivants de l’industrie hôtelière du début du XXe siècle. L’hôtel lui-même a été construit en 1912 et a ouvert ses portes un an plus tard. Sa façade est basée sur le style néoclassique et constitue l’un des bâtiments les plus emblématiques de Nice.

 

L’hôtel abrite également le restaurant de luxe Le Chantecler, le seul restaurant de Nice à avoir deux étoiles Michelin. Pour ceux qui souhaitent jeter un petit coup d’œil à l’intérieur de l’hôtel, le salon et le bar sont ouverts au public à condition d’acheter une boisson quelconque.
