Overview

Le musée d’archéologie est situé dans une fortification militaire dans le bastion de Saint-André qui a été construit par Vauban au 17ème siècle. Il présente des objets et autres découvertes historiques, dans un fort de bord de mer.

 

L’intérieur est composé de deux galeries voûtées dans lesquelles vous trouverez des collections archéologiques de la ville d’Antibes. Certaines de ces collections comprennent plusieurs inscriptions gallo-romaines comme la stèle de l’enfant Septentrion, des objets archéologiques, des moulages, de la documentation, des pièces de monnaie.

 

Les objets que l’on peut trouver dans ce musée retracent l’histoire des sept siècles d’occupation de la colonie grecque de Marseille, du VIIe au Ier siècle avant Jésus-Christ. Vous trouverez donc des objets produits par les Grecs, les Étrusques, les Messaliotes et même les Romains.

 

Les deux galeries voûtées en briques sont surmontées d’une immense terrasse pavée d’où vous pourrez apprécier et admirer la magnifique vue sur la ville d’Antibes et le cap d’Antibes, face à la mer Méditerranée également.

 

Admirez les collections de ce musée et laissez-les vous guider vers l’histoire d’Antipolis et des Ligures, Grecs et Romains qui ont laissé leurs marques sur la Côte d’Azur et leurs traces dans la ville d’Antibes.

 

Le musée est ouvert tous les jours du mardi au samedi, sauf le dimanche et le lundi. Vous pouvez le visiter à tout moment entre 10 h et 13 h ou 14 h et 17 h.
