The French Riviera is known for its captivating landscapes, its culture and Provencal cuisine, its charming villages and its joie de vivre. One of the mostbeautiful regions of France, it is the ideal destination for travelers in search of extraordinary cuisine and land, combined with fascinating history and culture. The Côte d’Azur is the meeting point of the Alps and the Mediterranean, where the climate is temperate most of the year and where warm, sunny days are cooled by sea breezes in the evening.
French Riviera: discover the most beautiful places!
Why is the Côte d’Azur called the French Riviera? English speakers speak of riviera or French Riviera, which is modelled on the Italian riviera, which means “a region characterized by the brutal contact between the sea and the mountains”. In the Occitan language, and whatever the dialect in the whole South of France, the term “riviera” is transcribed by the name “Còsta d’Azur”, not to be confused with “Ribiera” which means a river. In French, for a long time people have spoken of the Rivers of Genoa and Nice. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
