The Jardin Botanique offers a wide collection of exotic species in a beautiful botanic garden located in Antibes. The Villa also serves as a laboratory for the research and introduction of exotic plant species as it is also managed by the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment.

It was Gustave Thuret, a botanist and algologist, who was inspired by the climate and wild nature of Cap d’Antibes. In 1857, he decided to buy a plot of land and create a lush garden, today the Jardin Botanique. Gustave’s research of exotic plants with collaborations of the Museum of Paris has not only brought about the introduction of the exotic species to the public but it has also contributed to the creation of the landscape of the French Riviera.

All the species are protected in accordance with international regulations and the collection you can find includes different kinds of trees, 150 different botanical families in particular and 450 genera. All the plans vary in origin and are fully adapted to the Mediterranean climate.

Take a few hours of your day and appreciate these exceptional species. The botanical garden is worth a visit; take your camera and observe the exotic world. You may even have the chance to reserve a guided tour and learn a lot about the origins of each species.

You can visit the garden on weekdays anytime between 8 am to 6 pm during summer and 8:30 am to 5:30 pm during winter. Villa Thuret is easily accessible by bus from Antibes with Line 2 at the stop Chemin de la Salis.
