The Avenue Jean Médecin is the main shopping street in Nice where you will find all kinds of shops, from retail stores to organic shops and supermarkets. You can also find the Nice Étoile shopping mall, some restaurants, coffee shops and other leisure and entertainment venues.

The surrounding buildings are eye-catching and beautiful. You will also notice that there are no cars passing through this important street. This is because the main tram line, Line 1, passes all the way through and splits the city in two from east to west.

Avenue Jean Médecin is also a connection point for both Line 1 and 2 of the tramway. Line 2 runs from the airport all the way to the port and there is a connection on Avenue Jean Médecin if you wish to switch to Line 1.

At the southern tip of the street is Place Masséna, the main square of Nice, which leads all the way to the Promenade des Anglais. If you walk to its northernmost point, you will reach Libération where you can find the Marché de la Libération and the gastronomical hub of the Gare du Sud. While the southern section is mostly a tourist area, the further north you go the more locals you begin to encounter.
