The Chemin des Douaniers is the best way to learn about Antibes’ creative past and its relationship with impressionist artists. A walk not to be missed during your visit in Antibes!
A lot of artists who visited the French Riviera were truly fascinated and inspired by the impressive scenery surrounding the city.
Each location on the trail is marked by a laminated copy of the painting which was the inspiration point for each painting. Next to each painting you will also find some information about the artist who painted it and about their time in Antibes.
This is the way the town of Antibes has celebrated the fame of all of those talented artists who found their inspiration in the small citadel town on the Mediterranean. There is a map in the Antibes Juan-les-Pins Tourist Office which guides you through all the stands of the paintings on the trail.
Along your walk on the trail, you will also admire both the deep blue sea and the Alps. If you are interested in art and the artists who fell in love with the French Riviera, then this is your opportunity to see the beautiful scenery that inspired all of those artists and see their original paintings for yourself!
