Overview

The church of Saint John the Baptist may not seem so interesting at first sight, but it has a beautiful decoration and an annual tradition is connected with it.

The original church stood on this site in the 11th century, but it was rebuilt twice during the 19th century and a rectory was added in 1846.

The most important work on the church took place between 1992 and 1998, when the church was given its present appearance.

Every year on 24 June, the townspeople celebrate the feast of the patron saint and organise a procession, in the middle of which the statue of Saint Jean-Baptiste is carried to the quay of the old harbour.

So if you are visiting Saint Jean Cap Ferrat at the end of June, you should not miss this spectacle. But if you visit the town at any other time of the year, be sure to visit the church, you will not regret it.

Masses take place on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm, Fridays at 9:00 am and Sundays at 6:00 pm.
