If you happen to visit Cannes during July or August, then you might see the Fireworks Festival in person. It is a festival held for several nights between mid-July and mid-August.
Its aim is to bring together firework designers from all over the world, and the event has been held since 1967. Usually, the audience votes for the firework display they liked best, each one representing a different country. The winners are awarded the Prix du Public, the Audience Prize. Some prizes even include stays at luxury hotels on the Côte d’Azur!
The fireworks begin at 11 pm and are open for the public to view. You can also watch the fireworks from the rooftop of the Palais des Festivals and enjoy the show over the Bay of Cannes.
