La Chèvre d’Or, housed in a medieval castle, is a luxurious hotel which is located in the medieval village of Éze. The castle has terraced gardens, alleys and houses with stones. It’s lovely gardens and terraces also provide exceptional views of the Mediterranean Sea.
The history of this exceptional setting goes al the way back to 1953 when Robert Wolff bought the land with an intention of building a restaurant. Of course, he would be proud to find out that today that specific restaurant has obtained not one but two Michelin Stars. However, Walt Disney has also had its contribution to the success of La Chèvre d’Or, who convinced Wolff to turn his restaurant into a hotel for all the people who wanted to experience the luxurious life of the French Riviera. Today, this specific hotel has been spreading its charm to visitors from the whole region of the Côte d’Azur as well as Paris and other countries as well.
The restaurant which can be found in this hotel is very famous and it is even known to have two Michelin stars. It first opened its doors in 1953 and obtained its first Michelin star only a few years later, in 1975. It’s second Michelin star was obtained in 2000 when Jean-Marc Delacourt became the chef.
A rather interesting feature of this hotel is that all rooms offered have a completely different style and bear the names of famous figures who have lived in the region, names such as Friedrich Nietzsche and Jean Cocteau.
Whether you are considering spending a night or not, we recommend you take a look at this castle which hosts today a 2 Michelin star restaurant as well as a luxurious hotel overlooking the whole region of the French Riviera.
