The ’Neuf Lignes Obliques’’ is a monument which can be found on the Promenade des Anglais, close to Masséna. It is a huge metal sculpture which may give the first impression of a combination of nine enormous toothpicks. Its name translates as ‘’Nine Diagonal Lines’’.
The nine poles are meant to symbolise the nine valleys of the old County of Nice that surround the city.
The sculpture was originally located in the park right opposite where it currently stands, but then it had to be moved just ten metres away because of the underground parking being built to service the main square of Place Masséna.
