Cap Camarat houses the second highest lighthouse in France, more specifically 129 meters above sea level. You can only imagine what the views over the city and the sea are like.
The lighthouse is covered by a lush forest of pine and oak trees holding on tightly to granite rocks that are sculptured by different elements. The tip of the cap is mainly responsible for supporting the lighthouse.
The wildlife is also lush. You can find lizards, snakes, and other protected species such as the Hermann tortoise, the only tortoise native to France. Of course, there is a variety of flora as well, a forest composed of oak trees, flowers with white bell-shaped bloom, and even some protected species such as stands of Jupiter and Isoetes Durieu.
Because of its location a hundred meters above the sea, the area is filled with a natural landscape offering magnificent panoramic views of the mountains and the bay as well. There is car parking beside the lighthouse of which you can experience different lookouts, one over the Pampelonne beach and another of Cap Taillait.
If you are up for some exercise and adventure, you can follow the hiking trail which leads all the way to the coast. You will admire some very nice views of the region along the way.
