While you are walking on the Croisette by the port you may spot a few small but beautiful islands in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. The Lérins islands are only 20 minutes away from Cannes and they are easily accessible by boat.
The island of Saint-Honorat is only a kilometre away from Saint-Marguerite and it is a wonderful and peaceful getaway from the urban city, ideal for walks, swimming and picnics!
This island is home to a community of monks who have been living on Saint-Honorat for centuries. They are however, very hospitable and active as they have been growing their vineyards with a lot of passion therefore by producing high quality wines and liquors.
The most historical monuments you should watch out for is the tower-monastery, Saint-Sauveur chapel and the Chapel of the Trinity. There is also a shop at the monastery where you can buy local wine, honey, olive oil and liqueurs. The monastery also offers retreats for those in search of spirituality or calmness.
Visit the island of Saint-Honorat and discover its heritage, the old chapels, the vineyards and get familiar with the monks’ centuries-old way of living. Enjoy the Bay of Cannes and its refreshing waters as well as its breathtaking views.
You can enjoy your lunch at the picnic areas of the island or at La Tonnelle, a restaurant which offers delicious Mediterranean dishes with a wonderful view of the sea.
