The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most famous events in Monte-Carlo. The series of races take place every year in May and the track is well known as, among others, one of the most demanding circuits in Formula One.
The race has been operating since the beginning of the 20th century and it is one of the oldest and one of the three most prestigious races in the world alongside the Indy 500 by Indy Car and the 24 hours of Le Mans.
The racing event is held on the Circuit de Monaco, a circuit winding through the streets of Monte-Carlo and La Condamine around the harbour, all of which link tight turns in the middle of protective walls. The drivers are faced with narrow streets, with many elevation changes, tight corners and even a tunnel.
During the weekend of this event, the Principality of Monaco becomes very busy with all the people who come to see the show. A lot of famous and rich people arrive in Monaco with their private boats and yachts in the harbour. There is also a number of temporary grandstands that are built only for the show and are available for viewing during the race.
If you happen to visit Monaco during May then you might be able to see the event for yourself! It brings people together from all over the world. You can buy your tickets in advance and secure a good viewing point or admire the show from a birds-eye view balcony.
