If you are an admirer of contemporary art then you will find this monument rather interesting. It can be found on the top terrace of the Bastion Saint-Jaume towards the direction of the port. You even can enter inside the sculpture which is over ten metres high.
This monument is made up of a lace of capital letters in white steel, representing a human silhouette with curved shapes. One leg is bent against his chest and his face is wide open.
The sculpture is also very interesting during the evening when it is illuminated against the dark sky. It gives an optical illusion, as if the monument is standing right in front of you no matter your location.
The artist, Jaume Plensa, is known for his interesting figurative sculptures. Some of his other famous works in France include the kneeling men in Place Masséna in Nice and Sanna, a female face which can be found at Place de la Comédie in Bordeaux.
