Overview

The Musee de la Chapelle de la Visitation, or the Chapel of the Visitation, is located in the Old Town of Monaco. It’s a Baroque chapel dating all the way back to the 17th century which was turned into a museum with galleries for religious art work and scriptures.

The chapel was initially built for the education of young girls from the Monegasque community on the orders of Princess Charlotte de Gramont.

Converted into a museum today, it houses a remarkable artistic collection of a wealthy patron and collector Barbara Piasecka-Johnson including artworks by Rubens, Zurbaran, Ribera and masters of the Italian Baroque style.

Stroll through the alleys of the old town and you will find the Musee de la Chapelle de la Visitation among other landmarks of the Principality such as the Musée Oceanographique, Monaco Cathedral and not far away, the Prince’s Palace with phenomenal panoramic views of the region.

The museum is open every day for viewing except Mondays from 10 am to 4 pm.
