One of the largest attractions in Menton is the museum of Jean Cocteau. Situated on the seaside where the beautiful promenade is, you will find a building in a unique architecture featuring surrealistic elements.
Jean Cocteau is a favourite citizen of the French people. He was an artist, a film director, a poet and is mostly known for his novel, Les Enfants Terribles, which he while he was in a process of detox from an addiction. Jean Cocteau was also a very close friend of another famous artist who spent his time in the South of France, the one and only Pablo Picasso.
Jean Cocteau loved Menton and you will see a lot of sights dedicated to this talented artist all over the city. There are different exhibitions that are being showcased in this museum such as a selection of drawings, paintings, ceramics and film clips.
The collection is composed of avant-garde graphic works with pencil, pastel, watercolours and some photographic prints.
