The New National Museum of Monaco is settled inside two villas known as Villa Paloma and Villa Sauber. They are filled with contemporary art exhibitions, paintings and photography.
Taking a route through the two villas, you will have the opportunity to see the Monacropolis exhibition. It presents architectural achievements and projects from 1858 through archives, plants, sculptures, objects and even films.
The aim is to promote the heritage and collection as well as the discovery of contemporary scenes around two general themes, ‘Art and Territory’ at Villa Paloma and ‘Art and Spectacle’ at Villa Sauber.
The Villa Sauber is built and decorated in a Belle Époque style and is home to the most historical parts of the exhibition with themes related to the casino, the opera, the palaces, the baths, sporting clubs and events, museums and gardens. Other themes include residences, places of worship, cemeteries, hospitals and even public services.
What is also very interesting is that this museum also serves a conservation centre, whose objective is to restore traditional artwork such as antique dolls and costumes. The museum is open to the public daily from 10 am to 8 pm.
